![]() ![]() VSL Synchron Strings Bundle Standard Library (€ 720).Orchestral Tools Berlin Symphonic Strings (549 € +VAT).Orchestral Tools Berlin Strings (840 € +VAT).I have been watching lots of videos on YouTube with people showcasing strings libraries, and the ones I’m kind of inclined to get, but by this I mean, choose one of these because I’m not rich and I already spent way too much on this, are: But it has so much awesome stuff and the sound is so good that it’s one of my favorites nevertheless) Symphobia 1 and 2 (this one is old but surprisingly good, problem is, it’s a bit constrained in articulations and stuff.Symphony Series String Ensemble (more meh).Native Instruments Factory Library 2 strings (surprisingly much better than the version 1 I had in Komplete 9).Cremona Quartet (outstanding solo strings).Spitfire’s Hans Zimmer Strings (these sound ok, but I have a lot of Zimmer scores, and I have done tests with a Zimmer song on one track and HZS in another track, and they don’t sound very similar. But it crashes Logic Pro X a lot, and their customer support is terrible, so I mostly stopped using them) ![]() Eastwest Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition (this one has some great samples, although some are not that good.So just for the purpose of this search, these are libraries I already own, at least the ones that are rather complete, not the ones that are rather strip down versions like Spitfire’s free BBC SO (nothing wrong with it, and it’s very generous of them to offer that for free): My guess is that not so good, because it would be like adding up a lot of the same, even if I mix it up. However, these are solo strings, and I guess I could try creating an ensemble, actually I plan on doing it, but I don’t know how well that will work, or how realistic it’s going to sound. To me it’s mindblowing that I can play in my computer a violin from 1727 and it sounds that good. But, the sound quality is amazing, and it’s a fascinating story what went behind the scenes to be able to capture all that. The only problem there is the rather poor GUI that makes an amazing sounding library look like a cheap one, so small and hard to read that it gives you headaches. The only ones that I have acquired lately that sound remarkable to me, and very realistic, are the Cremona Quartet that comes with Komplete 14 CE. Some of them sound pretty good, but no matter how much I tweak them, on their own they sound fine, but when I compare them to the scores I have on CD, and I have a fairly decent collection, they just sound a bit artificial. But so far, I can't find a single library with a string ensemble that sounds absolutely real to me. Nobody’s forced to read it, but I will be very grateful if you do and can help me make a decision, and hopefully this will also help many other people looking for the same thing)Ī few months ago, I set out to get the best strings libraries available, and I got some decent ones, some OK, some not so good. (Note: I apologize for the length of this post.
